Art Work on Paper

The Chinese ink is not waterproof, but not a problem, once I realized. I coloured with watercolour pencils, then used a water brush to spread the pigment and incorporate some of the ink wash for effect. I like this, and want to do more with it.
My bottles of ink, and a favourite nib pen.
Working on a drawing - this was inked today (ignore the day ahead date) with the Chinese ink.

A doodle drawing done on the ferry and coloured at home with Pitt artist brush pens.

"Leaves of Grass" collage

Today at the Arts Centre, I plucked a sprig of Pieris, in full bloom, from the front garden area, as a subject for my painting.

Jane LaFazio's course of Spring 2015, Sketching and Watercolor in a Mixed Media Journal, is really great. I am on lesson 5 now (of 6 lessons), and this one is all about an initial drawing, and then reusing the images in a collage. Here is my initial drawing:

This was a two 3 exercise, two paint a subject using 8 different techniques on one page.

Using Strathmore Mixed Media paper and Tombow water soluble pens.

Lesson on how to draw a hollow cube, from Mark Kistler's book "How to Draw in 30 Days".

David Williams book "Drawing", second lesson, drawing a free hand balanced circle.

Book by Mark Kistler "You Can Draw in 30 Days" lesson 2: overlapping spheres. Jan 11, 2015.

Straight to ink drawing, so no pencil first, no corrections. Coloured with Faber and Castell Pitt Artis Pens - Brush, in basic set of six colours.

These drawings and paintings are from my 6 week online course with Jane LaFazio, Sketching and Watercolor, Journal Style.

Week #6, last week: Machine-made objects, using pencil-at-arms-length-and-squint technique to get proportions correct.

Week #5: Shoes!

Week #4: Flowers!

More continuous line, straight to ink efforts:
