Drawing class #4 and a spider

Week 4 of my North Island College drawing class. Today we made lots of fast charcoal sketches on newsprint, of a still life, using directional lines, different tonal effects like cross hatching, and drawing negative space (hard!).

My quick charcoal tonal sketch of paint cans.
And for something completely different, a spider that was in the sewing studio yesterday, which I released into the wild.

Hobo Spider (Eratigena agrestis).
ntroduced to British Columbia from Europe, only found in south western part of province.
