Jean Cockburn retired from her professional career as an academic librarian in 2008 to become a textile artist living on Denman Island, British Columbia. She draws, quilts, embroiders, knits and crochets, makes wearable art, weaves baskets, dyes fabric, and paints watercolours. Her work has been exhibited locally in juried and group shows on Denman Island, in Courtenay, Comox, and Duncan on Vancouver Island, in West Vancouver, and across Canada with the Surface Design Association.

Native orchid: Spotted Coralroot aka Corallorhiza maculata

The pictures below are from a path in the woods on our property - our own rare native orchid! There is a better photo on the this page from UBC:  E-Flora BC: Electronic Atlas of the Plants of British Columbia
Our plant has flowers that look just like the ones in the photo on the website, but my camera, or my photographic skills, could not catch the detail.
