Jean Cockburn retired from her professional career as an academic librarian in 2008 to become a textile artist living on Denman Island, British Columbia. She draws, quilts, embroiders, knits and crochets, makes wearable art, weaves baskets, dyes fabric, and paints watercolours. Her work has been exhibited locally in juried and group shows on Denman Island, in Courtenay, Comox, and Duncan on Vancouver Island, in West Vancouver, and across Canada with the Surface Design Association.

Colour Class #3: Cake Stand in primary colours

This is from Gai Perry's "Color From the Heart" - we did it as our third lesson at our quilt group. Goal is to use 3 primary colours, red & yellow & blue - in 3 values of each colour, and include prints. It was such a learning experience. The  cake stand block is a good one for teaching technique in addition to the colour lesson.
